Evaluation of Reading Processes

A comprehensive reading evaluation is a combination of various assessments of many academic and cognitive areas associated with reading performance.  These include various areas of reading skills, in addition to measures of math and spelling in order to compare academic competence.

It is a comprehensive evaluation consisting of a variety of measures including:

Phonemic Awareness

Phonics skills

Word Identification

Reading Fluency

Reading Comprehension

Math Calculation

Math Fluency

Spelling

Feedback will be provided on the day of the evaluation or at a following date to give parents information regarding their child’s performance.  A report will be provided within one to two weeks of the evaluation.  The evaluation of reading processes is used to gain information for parents and teachers regarding the child’s instructional levels and areas of specific need.  This information can be used to aid in developing tutoring programs, IEP’s, 504 Plans, etc.  It is particularly useful as there are many available programs specifically addressed to remediate each of the areas assessed.
